I find watching different shows so much more engaging now that my English is improving! There are so many cool words and stories out there. Here are the top five shows and movies that made me really want to level up my English skills:

  • Rush Hour: At the top of my list is this awesome action-comedy. It is packed with fun slang like "What’s up?" and "Yo, check it out!" Watching it made me want to learn how to speak more naturally and master everyday slang.
  • Angry Birds: Next is this animated hit. Even though the dialogue is simple and easy to understand, it made me appreciate how powerful basic sentence structures and descriptive adjectives can be when telling a story.
  • Twelve Angry Men: I didn’t really like this courtroom drama at first because the vocabulary felt too hard. But as I kept watching, it actually motivated me to learn how to express my own opinions and arguments more clearly for our mini-debate class!
  • Jaws: If you are into suspenseful thrillers and want to get better at descriptive storytelling, this is a great movie to watch. It really shows you how words can build up a ton of excitement.
  • Breaking Bad: Last on my list is this intense show, which challenged me to learn advanced science vocabulary. It was so cool learning words like precipitate and hydrofluoric acid!

Movies and TV shows do not just entertain us—they can also inspire us to learn a whole new language. What are you watching next?
